Elijah's First Trip to Texas!

Wow, it's been way too long since we've updated. We apologize..we were in Texas for 2 weeks visiting family and friends. We have lots of updates headed your way though. They'll be more frequent now that we're settled back in.

  • Flights: Elijah was a star baby on the flights. We got many comments from other passengers and the flight attendants what a "great baby" he is (we agree). On the way to Houston we could bring his carrier on since we had an extra seat next to us -- definately the way to fly! On the way home, Morgan had to hold him the whole time and her arms got tired pretty quickly. He slept the whole time both ways and woke up only to eat and make googly eyes at the other passengers. What a cutie! Here's a pic of Bruce and Elijah on the plane:

  • Morgan's Family: We spent lots of quality time with Morgan's family. Milena, her sister, was home for 2 months from Switzerland. They hadn't seen each other since our wedding 2 years ago. Grant, her brother, is going to school at UT Austin, so he was in classes. We did make a trip to Austin to see Grant for a few hours in his dorm, and also to visit Morgan's grandmother who recently went into a nursing home outside of Austin. She turned 94 this year. There's a picture below of 4 generations of Morgan's family together. We also took a trip to Morgan's moms farm house in East Texas where we relaxed, rode 4-wheelers, saw donkeys and chickens, and Morgan shot a few guns (at targets, not animals). Bruce was too chicken....that or he wanted to "protect his ears" so he could still listen to his stereo.

  • Bruce's Family: We had a great time hanging out with Bruce's 2 brothers Craig and Chuck (unfortunately we didn't take ANY pictures of Craig and the baby while we were home....what happened?). We went out to lunch and dinner a couple times and got to spend some good quality time with them. We went to this "Latin fusion" restaurant called The Red Onion which was delicious. We enjoyed the pineapple salsa and homemade chips. We took Elijah on his first stroller ride outside..the weather was in the 60-70's most of the time we were home. We spent lots of time fattening up. Bruce's mom made peanut butter and dark chocolate bon-bons which were oh-so-delightful....and we ate the whole bag while we were home. We went to Mo's BBQ with Bruce's dad..they have a loaded baked potato with this brisket and bbq sauce. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Enjoy the pics below:

  • Elijah's 2 month birthday: February 14th (Valentine's day) was Elijah's 2 month birthday. Gramma bought him a special "Heart breakers in training" outfit to celebrate. He's getting so big so quickly! None of his 0-3 month clothes fit him anymore, but while we were home we had to s-q-u-e-e-z-e him into them because we didn't bring anything bigger with us. Now that we're home we've switched out all this 0-3 month clothing for the more appropriate fitting 3-6 month ones. Let's see how long these last....

My compliments to the photographer who shot the pic of Elijah with Grant (I assume it's Grant) with the UT tower clearly showing in the background outside the window. Couldn't ask for a better backdrop.
