Church retreat
This past weekend we went to Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire for a retreat with our church. We had a great time of hanging out with friends - old and new, enjoying God's creation and spending time with Jesus! We went to the lake two afternoons and snapped some pictures of Elijah. He still hates the water (I do too -- the water is cooooold here!) but it was nice to be there with good friends and nice weather.

Mobility spurt!
Elijah is on a major mobility spurt these past 2 weeks - it's all he wants to do is try to crawl, walk along the furniture, sit down, stand up, repeat. He has progressed from just being able to sit up and/or stand up by himself to a mobile monster!!! We can no longer leave him in the room for 30 seconds while we run to the other room or we come back and he's in to some sort of trouble. We've had some interesting times which I'll try to highlight in a trip around the living room in one play session:
Sitting to standing by getting on the knees first
Standing and cruising along the coffee table
Bending to pick up toys (and not falling on his face!)
Reaching to get from one surface to another
Moving from one object to another
And a bonus picture! One of the first nights that Elijah learned to stand up on his own in the crib, he woke up around 10pm screaming. Somehow he pulled himself up in his crib while he was sleeping and woke up and didn't know how he got there (or how to get down!!) Now a week later after much practice he can stand up and sit down so we no longer have this problem and we once again have peaceful nights.

Creeping
This video is more for the grandmother types who just like to see video of the baby doing anyting. Elijah has started into the world of "creeping" which is like wobbly walking while holding onto something. Here's a video of him walking along the coffee table towards a plastic back massager (Hey - anything at this age is a toy!)
In this next video, Elijah is still creeping up and down the table, but this time he misses his hand on the table and goes for a *delicate* fall at the end.

Jumpy Elijah
Elijah jumping and playing in his exersaucer. If this doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will.
Bath in the sink
Here's Elijah trying to crawl out of the sink. He likes to pull himself up and stand in the tub, holding on for dear life to the faucet. What a cutie.
He's so happy wrapped up in the towel --- until it's time to get dressed! Then the protest begins.
College friends!
YAY! My friends from college Helina (on right) and Mariam (Mar) were in Boston this last weekend and I got to see them as well as Kajahl who lives in Boston now but I hardly ever see. They came over to hang out and play with Elijah, then they took me out to dinner at Brown Sugar - a yummy Thai place. We each got something completely different and tried each other's plates - delicious! It's kind of cool how we're all at completely different stages in life - Mar and H have important jobs in the political world in DC, and KJ is finishing her master's degree and working. And looking at this picture, I need some sun!! Great to see you girls - see you in November for the Teague Tour of America - Road Trip Style.

Elijah pulling to stand video
And a couple cute bonus pictures.
Elijah likes to play on the other side of his exersaucer now. He holds on to the side of it and walks along the side of it or along our legs. This week he's been more into standing and trying to walk and won't let us put him on his belly to try to crawl. When we put him on his tummy he gets up and tries to find something to pull up on. Yikes! We're not baby proof yet!!
Elijah is obsessed with crawling under the coffee table and pulling out all the books, slobbering all over them and then waiting for us to put them back so that he can repeat the process again.
Elijah's first time in the pool
Last week I took Elijah to the pool with my friends Sarah and Shosh (with her 2 kids). The pools here are different than in Texas where the water is still cold even in the summer. Elijah was pretty scared of the water (probably b/c it was icy) and still won't take a bath in the tub without fussing. We've had to temporarily move him to the sink - which he LOVES b/c he can try to turn on the faucet and spray himself with water. We have some cute pics of him in the sink but they're nakie ones so we won't post them here.
Gramma & Nana visit!
Bruce's mom (aka Gramma) came to visit with her husband David a few weeks ago and we went to the Arnold Arboretum and took a few pics. Enjoy!
And (this is so embarassing) - my mom just left for a 4 day visit yesterday and we didn't take a SINGLE picture of the two of them. What happened?!? There is this pic of Elijah that happens to capture my mom in the background. Thanks Mom for watching Elijah all week while we went to staff training!! It was such a blessing for us.

Salon Dance
We met a cool fella who owned a salon and one of his employees was a dancing champ. Unfortunately we didn't record most of the dance, but I thought the way he could bend for the Matrix part was neat. He was rather good. We'll post pictures of our trip soon I promise.
