Report card time again: 3 months

We appreciate the comments that there really are people out there! Gives us more motivation to update frequently.

Well it’s report card time again, or perhaps I should give myself an F because report card time was about two weeks ago. For some reason it won’t let me post at work and thus kills my motivation to make a post. Who really has the time when they get home after work and want to play with their cute baby?

Sleeping B

There has been much improvement in his sleeping. I don’t know if he’s gotten use to his routine or if we’ve just gotten better at soothing him. Usually a little snuggle while rocking in the chair and he’s out like a light. I would give him an A, but when his paci falls out and he’s not in a deep sleep he still fusses looking for it. There aren’t many sleepless nights or interrupted movies though these days. Thanks buddy!

Head Control A

Almost an A+ but he still has a little bit of bobble head action going sometimes. We don’t really have to watch or be careful about it anymore though. We can pretty much count on him holding up his own head.

Tracking A

He follows things just fine and dandy. I’m sure it could probably be better so we’ll still keep it with out the +.

Feeding A

He eats like a champ. We recently started giving him bottles while Morgan is at work and he didn’t take to them too well at first. Yesterday was much better though. He even chugged right through his last bottle in less then 10 minutes last night, no fussiness and no breaks to burp. It was impressive. **Of note, Morgan would score Elijah an A+ for feeding..guess he just prefers to eat right from Mom**

Hand Control C+

The score is a little deceiving. Perhaps I should make it for where he should be at his age. He does rather well I think for a 3 month old. He can bring his fist up to his mouth when ever he wants (as shown in pictures below) and most of the time he lands it. Sometimes he almost takes out his eye, or looks like he’s picking his nose, but what can you expect? He swings at the toys dangling from his play gym and makes contact. I’m not sure if its spastic movements and he just happens to hit it, or if it’s intentional. He doesn’t always seem to know which hand to use. I feel like sometimes I’ll have him hitting something with one hand and then move the object to the other side and he’ll still swing at it with the other arm as if it were where it was before and look confused. He moves his head and is still looking at it, just using the wrong arm. Oddly enough he seems to have more control over his left hand, but recently has started to develop his right. I wonder which one will end out on top?

Baby Talk A

He’ll usually carry on some sort of conversation with you. You make a noise, then he’ll make a noise. Morgan always says Ah Goo to him and the other day we were talking and he just pulls out Ah Goo’s all over the place. I was very impressed, the G sound doesn’t seem like the first one I would learn to make. I’ve been trying to capture it on film, but he tells me he’s not a trick pony.

Physical Development ??

I’m not sure where to score this. He’s huge for his age so one may think of that as an A+, but maybe he’s too big for his age and shouldn’t be scored so highly for his gluttony. Whose fault is it that he eats so much? Maybe it’s just one of those things… some babies turn out real chunky. They say fat is good for brain growth so bring it on. I don’t know the official weight but he’s around 16lbs and I have no clue on his length.

We’re pretty pleased with his report card, I think this ones going on the fridge.
